Feint of Heart
Broadcast #006: Camille Okhio / Josephine Halvorson; Dave Hickey book launch & October's Angel-of-the-Month
This is your soft Monday morning reminder that Angelic Transmissions #006 broadcasts live today 12-2pm EST via East Village Radio.
The first guest is writer Camille Okhio discussing the exhibition she curated “Residual Energies” currently on view at Nina Johnson in Miami, followed by painter Josephine Halvorson, talking about her exhibition “New Hours” on view at James Fuentes new space in Los Angeles. In between we will be joined by Leigha Mason to gossip about Sergei Eisenstein’s Ivan the Terrible Pts. I & II (1945) playing around the corner at Anthology Film Archives.
There will also be a *special bonus*— an exclusive recording of Dan Milewski performing a song Dave Hickey wrote in 1975! Which leads into…
Tomorrow is the launch for Dave Hickey’s posthumous collection Feint of Heart: Art Writings 1982-2002 that I edited. I pulled Dave’s most experimental long-form essays, largely uncollected and written for catalogues, and treated them like short-stories. Ed Ruscha made the cover (!) in tribute to their long friendship, and the phenomenal text Dave wrote about him from 1982, which opens the book. I’m so proud of this project and I can’t wait for people to read it.
I’ll be in conversation with Dave’s longtime friend, cult country music hero and conceptual artist Terry Allen (also the subject of an essay included the book) about their friendship in art and language, as well as Brendan Greaves author of the new Terry Allen biography Truckload of Art (2024).
October 8th, 6pm, at David Zwirner, 525 West 19th street.

I HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
And now, it is my pleasure to introduce the October 2024 Angel of the Month:
Will the 10/8 show be recorded? The book looks great!
