Good Morning, Angels…

In between we’ll gossip with Leigha Mason about one of the true cult classics of the early 21st century, Karyn Kusama’s Jennifer’s Body (2009) playing around the corner at Anthology Film Archives as part of “Lizzie Borden Selects”.

On Wednesday, November 20th, 7pm, I’ll be in conversation with Witt Fetter to talk about her show “In the Unlikely Event of a Water Landing” on view now at Derosia Gallery (197 Grand Street, 2W, NY, NY). RSVP: office@derosia.nyc
On Thursday, November 21st, 5-7pm, I’ll be celebrating the launch of Paul Cadmus: 49 Drawings at Ursula Bookshop at Hauser & Wirth (443 West 18th St, NY, NY). This a collection of never-before-seen erotic drawings by Cadmus I turned up in Jon Anderson’s drawers back when I was working on Young & Evil. There are essays by collector/dealer (and driving force of the book) Graham Steele and art historian Richard Meyer, as well as a conversation I had with Doron Langberg, Oscar yi Hou, and Nash Glynn about the state of “queer figuration”. It promises to be a perfect *stocking* stuffer for those who celebrate. Register here.
Earlier this year I was interviewed by my friend, the brilliant artist and writer (as well as recent Angelic Transmissions guest) Ajay Kurian about the state of art criticism. It’s just been released in a smartly edited video titled “If Art Writing Can Be Anything, Why Is It This?” as part of his multifaceted NewCrits platform.
Also, I finally got my hands on a copy of the substantial catalog for Katharina Grosse’s show at the Centre Pompidou-Metz, “Shifting the Stars,” which includes an oral history we did charting her site-specific installations called “Forty Years of Disappearance in Seven Places”—it’s a beautiful and useful book, and would be ideal for a stuffing a slightly larger *stocking*.
And without further ado, I’m happy to share November’s *BONUS* Angel-of-the-Month:
